About Us

Discordant guitar rock in a harmonious indie-pop disguise. For a three piece band The City Views from Perth, Western Australia sure pack an emotional punch. The songs of Dave Wallace form the skeleton of the band with drummer Mark Eaton fleshing things out with tasteful harmonies while holding together the rhythm section along with Harry Kneen on Bass.

The band formed in Perth in 2015 and their 2nd ever show was in support of Sydney’s indie rock legends Smudge. In the few years that followed The City Views released their debut self titled EP on Joe Algeri’s Egomaniac label and have supported numerous national and international acts including Even, Header and Scotland’s Big Country. The City Views have also made appearances at many community festivals, most recently the Mount Hawthorn Streets and Lanes Festival. The City Views sound has been described as a blend of The Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jr and early R.E.M. with a distinctly Western Australian twist.

The three members have appeared in many original Perth acts since the 90’s Including The Sensitive Drunks, Bucket, Aisling, The Usuals and The JAC among others. Sid and Dave are also currently the rhythm section for Perth pop exports, The Jangle Band.

In February 2019 the band released it’s second EP titled Find Me Rewinding digitally via Half a Cow records and on 10” vinyl at. Since the launch The City Views have been playing regularly across Perth and Fremantle and are forever evolving into an indie rock force to be reckoned with.

Reviews

"A shimmering rawness and edge, complemented by a taut incision levitate The City Views to skyscraper heights"

Something Else USA

“They never let the crunch of these new tunes get in the way of their knack for a hook. Slackers of the world unite!”

Xpress Magazine Australia

“There is still a pop sensibility though each of these tunes, without the trace of bubblegum as the guitars get dirtier and songs more dense. Dave Wallace clearly has his head in the fertile era of slacker rock where guitar bands ruled the day”
