Discordant and noisy guitar rock in a harmonious indie-pop disguise. The City Views is a four-piece band from Perth, Western Australia. The band’s sound has been described as a blend of The Lemonheads, Sebadoh and Swervedriver with a distinctly Western Australian twist. The songs of guitarist/singer Dave Wallace form the foundations of the band’s sound while drummer, Mark Eaton, fleshes things out with tasteful vocal harmonies, holding the rhythm section together along with Hazz Kneen on Bass (Replacing original bassist Tom Goodrick). Joining in 2023, the newest member of The City Views is Jeff West on second guitar. With this current line-up, a new and exciting sonic direction is playing out.
The City Views formed in 2015 and their 2nd ever show was in support of Sydney’s indie rock legends Smudge. In the few years that followed, the band released their debut self-titled EP (Available on Bandcamp) on Perth music legend Joe Algeri’s Egomaniac label and have supported numerous national and international acts including Even (Vic), Header (WA), Big Country (UK), The Clouds (NSW) and The Charlatans (UK). The band has also appeared at numerous local festivals and community events including WAMfest and RTR’s Winter Music Festival.
The four current members have appeared in many original Perth acts since the 90’s: Dave – The Sensitive Drunks, Bucket, Aisling, The JAC, The Jangle Band. Mark – Liquid Altar, Ease, Idle 55, Jabber Jaws, The JAC, The Jangle Band, The Sensitive Drunks. Jeff – Bucket, Wilburforce, The Jayco Brothers. Hazz – Thermos Cardy, Benedict Moleta Band, Jabber Jaws.
In February 2019 the band released its second EP, “Find Me Rewinding”, which is currently available on 10” vinyl via Bandcamp. The third EP “The Future Is the Past” came along in 2021 and showed the bands sound evolving into something more sonically textured and dynamic. All three EP’s are available digitally on all streaming services via Nic Daltons legendary Half a Cow Records. The City Views play regularly across Perth and Fremantle and are forever evolving into an indie rock tour de force. Thanks to all our fans and the great bands we play with!
